A Great Day at ICMAC 2013!

After weeks of practice and preparation, the payoff for hard work came at the 3rd Annual New England Chinese Martial Arts Championship. Five of our students participated in nine divisions, taking home seven gold and two silver medals!

Sherry, Natalie, Kathy, Denise and Reggie competed in Yang Tai Chi, Open Yang Tai Chi, Straight Sword and Open Weapons divisions ranging from intermediate to advanced experience. They performed the 37 steps of Cheng Man Ching, Single Straight Sword, Double Straight Sword, and Double Fan forms.

Master Fang-Chih was the center judge for open hand divisions. Peter, Ted, Ya-Li and George participated as corner judges, score keeper and timer – there are lots of ways to contribute at a tournament!

One of the great things about any tournament is the wonderful people we meet, and to see the progress people make from year to year. One woman in the Open Weapons division told us how great it made her feel to see our students smiling and calling out encouragement during her performance, despite the fact that she wasn’t from our school! We love to see people perform beautifully – and always want people to do well. ICMAC is dedicated to “Friendship Through Martial Arts.” We couldn’t agree more!
