Asian Crane Tai Chi Wins Eleven Medals at the 8th Tai Chi Chuan World Cup Championship

The four members of Asian Crane Tai Chi of Plymouth, America’s Home Town Team, were big winners at The World Cup Tournament held in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 28 and 29. Asian Crane’s owner and team coach, Fang Chih Lee, announced the team scored 11 medals in multiple categories and age divisions.

Sherry Malone won a gold medal for her sword form in international competition, a bronze medal for world competition in sword form, and international bronze medals for the 13 and 37 Tai Chi forms. Sherry also won a bronze in international competition, and placed 5th in worldwide competition for her Tai Chi double-fan form.

David Titelbaum won two international gold medals for the 13 and 37 Tai Chi forms. Competing in different age divisions, Peter Blair also won two international gold medals for the 13 and 42 Tai Chi forms. Kathryn Devers won a silver medal for her 37 form and a bronze for her 13 forms.

Also participating with Asian Crane was First Circle Tai Chi and Qi Gong of Worcester, including their coach Karim-Ben Saunders, Tim Freeman, and Anthony Casella.

The World Cup Tournament, the most prestigious Tai Chi Chuan competition in the world, was usually held every other year until the COVID pandemic. This year was the first since 2018. Twenty nations and 162 teams participated with an opening ceremony of more than 10,000.
